Franquet Records
Its been a mental week. Even tho there’s been not too many shows on we’ve still been swamped here. I dont really know what the next step is. It feels like we’re operating at capacity a lot of the time, but then we just get busier. Record Store Day, some mental big shows, plenty of ‘normal’ sized shows, and also the day to day of being a busy record shop is taking its toll. We’re having “management” chats about what to do next. It will probably involve more staff
Frankie And The Heartstrings was really good. In truth they’re the first new headliner at New Slang this year really. We’ve wanted them here for a while so im glad they could finally do it, and in what better week than the week of their albums release!? stoked on that. The lad who did the recent Tokyo Police Club video shot a lot of footage of the day. Hope that comes out as well as i think it will.
We announced David Rodigan WITH King Blues (an album release show) on my birthday April 14th today. stoked on that. David Rodigans a super eccentric fella, but i reckon that part of the gig will be beyond rad!
late nate web updates is not what i wanted to be doing on a Friday night, but Gaslight fans just wouldnt wait till Monday morning. Happy to get on it now. Cos in truth, im excited about it too!
But right now, Im wasting a bit of time away waiting to RT a Frank Turner tweet about the Kingston shows (thats right, plural), but while i was searching for a picture of Fake Problems at New Slang i came across this picture.

This was the gig which spawned New Slang. And its so great that 4 and a half years on he is still coming back to us, still playing for us, still being a good dude and still growing. Im so excited for this Kingston gig. Tickets go on sale at 9AM on Monday. Our computer guy will be jetlagged / asleep so i hope it works without emergency phone calls. The flyer’s below. Stoked on it.
Frank’s really important to us. I like how both Banquet and Frank (Franquet) have grown together in recent years. Both being formed from the ashes of something else.. And both, whilst not belittling the past, have grown into something way bigger than we ever thought we’d be.
Long live the king. King Frank.
