usually drink, usually DANCE, usually bail.
There was a group of about 20 people in Where’s Wally outfits last night. Shoulda been Where’s Wiley outfits…
Despite all assurances to the contrary, we had a no-show last night from Wiley.. Its not so much that it was cancelled (there’s always a risk of this with this culture and maybe moreso with this artist) its just we had no idea and no communication about it. And all that meant is that we couldn’t tell customers about it. Cos we didnt know!!!
Its really hard to know what to do about refunds. On the one hand there were many people there solely to see Wiley. We obviously dont wanna screw those people around. But the problem is the Wiley album release show was done as something of a loss leader. Either way, the prices were the same as every other DANCE club night we do. The fact that you (should have) had a bonus is just that, a bonus. We still have very real costs of hiring and promoting the venue on a Saturday night.
Futher to this, there’s not some blanket refund system possible to do. Some people paid £0 to get in, some £6. Some bought the album, some didnt. Its really confusing. As much as some people would be truthful and tell us what they paid in, many would take the piss and claim back more than they should. So thats really not an option. We took the names of anyone on the night who asked for refund. We’ll try and work out what to do on Monday, once we’ve spoken to his people about it..
We understand your disappointment, and even your anger. We thought it was a risk worth taking. Devlin’s cancellations were just about worth it in the end for a proper show. Pete Doherty’s cancellation was okay in the end when we had the Babyshambles show instead. But at least all of that was communicated. I dont think it would be worth rescheduling a Wiley gig. We just don’t know if it would turn up.
I hope this doesnt turn people off from the DANCE PA’s. Some of them over the years (Example, Tine Tempah, Pro Green and the like) have been really good.
We’ll keep you posted via the DANCE facebook and website.
